Like everywhere else, Schoellkopf Health Center had to adjust to Covid precautions.

Located in Niagara Falls, Ny; the health center provides nursing and rehabilitation to those in need. Prior to Covid, families were able to visit their loved ones, but due to the current circumstances visitations have been placed on hold. It has been a tough adjustment for both the residents and workers, although the health center is just trying to ensure their safety.“The residents, all of their activities are cut, they can’t visit their families like they used to.Their families used to come up and celebrate birthdays and holidays, it’s affected them in a major way.”The main objective is to stay safe so precautions have been amplified.

“When it first started, they used to Skype. Then they found out that, that’s spreading the virus”.

“They visit them through plexiglass. The family members have to get tested and show their negative test before they even come into the tent”.

  • The residents have had a decline in health.

  • Schoellkopf had a substantial number of cases.

  • There was a staff shortage.

  • Residents and workers have had a tough time adjusting to precautions.
