Things to know

  • Jacqlyn is a hard worker.

  • The Cookie’s Charm name has a lot of meaning.

  • Jacqlyn plans to be her own boss.

There’s nothing better than a mother-daughter relationship, mother’s always know what is best ! Janice and Jacqlyn Brown had an unbreakable bond; they spoke to each other every day and told each other everything. Unfortunately, the Brown family lost Janice a year ago and it’s taken a toll on the family, especially her kids. With the sudden passing of Janice came many valuable life lessons; living your dreams to the fullest being one of them. You never know when your time may come so you don’t want to dwell on the past or previous failures. You fail, learn from your mistakes, conquer your doubts and move on.

Most people fear taking a chance of taking a risk, Jacqlyn however does not fall into that category. While currently employed, Ms.Brown has high hopes to become her own boss one day. I believe Jacqlyn is an innovator, she’s always coming up with new ideas and concepts to expand her brand. Her latest idea was to customize charm bracelets, which she has dedicated her time to. It’s only been a few months since she has been making bracelets and yet her orders are through the roof, if I must say so myself they are a must have. Jacqlyn named her brand Cookie’s Charms, a childhood nickname for her late mother Janice;the charm bracelets are a dedication to Janice. Jacqlyn and her mom had a wonderful relationship and Janice would always encourage her to go above and beyond and be extraordinary.

I had the opportunity to interview Jacqlyn and witness the magic happen. I don’t think I would be able to sit and make charm bracelets, I am way too clumsy. But, Jacqlyn on the other hand has it down packed, even though she says there are some things she needs to work on I believe she does a wonderful job. There has to be concentration between the eyes and hands otherwise the process would take forever. Practice makes perfect, Jacqlyn still has improvements to make on her craft but in time her progress will pay off.

Fun fact- Jacqlyn is also an event decorated, soon she will be a triple threat. A few summers ago she decorated her niece’s weeding and has been getting booked ever since. She prepares months in advance, ordering and customizing all the decorations by herself. One of her goals is to become her own boss, I believe she’s well on her way she definitely has the right mindset.

“Own my own I will just create, and if it works it works, and if it doesn’t, I’ll create something else. I don’t have any limitations on what I think I could do or be”.

"My mom is my biggest aspiration, she's inspired me in so many ways so I just want to continue to make her proud".

-Jacqlyn Brown

Attribution to Janice Brown

Jessie Covington and Daniel Brown gave birth to Janice Brown on December 5, 1951 in North Carolina. Janice made her way to upstate New York in her early teens where she’d start her own family and spend the rest of her life. She had three children, Jamual, Jameia and Jacqlyn and eight grandchildren. Janice devoted her life to christ , singing and working with elementary school children; she touched the lives of many. She passed away suddenly on November 23, 2019. Janice would no longer be touching the lives of those she encountered but we must remember that a soul can not leave this earth until their purpose is fulfilled. Janice is missed dearly but, her soul lives for eternity.
